QWERTY and Dvorak

English practice offers US and UK QWERTY layouts on Windows and Mac layouts on macOS. Dvorak is currently offered with English practice on macOS. Choose the matching layout in your operating system as well; AlphaType does not remap your physical keyboard.

Swiss and German QWERTZ

Swiss Standard German practice uses a Swiss QWERTZ layout, including its distinctive accent and symbol keys. German practice uses the German layout. Choose CH · Deutsch or DE · Deutsch to match the language and spelling you want to practise.

Beyond one language

The tutor also includes Amharic practice with a phonetic input guide. Keyboard choices depend on the selected language and platform; not every possible combination is available.

Modifiers across operating systems

Windows keyboards may label Control as Ctrl or Strg. Mac keyboards add Command and Option. A matching visual keyboard helps you identify the intended key without treating every platform as identical.
